MEASURE THE PH OF YOUR AQUARIUM WITH

pH Test

130 rapid, precise and reliable tests to measure on a weekly basis the water pH of your aquarium.

The pH is one of the most important water values for freshwater and marine fish and should be tested regularly and the values noted in a log.

Sudden changes in pH are often the invisible cause of disease and death of fish.

Gradual changes in pH are less severe in the short term, but ultimately can be just as dangerous for the health of fish.

In freshwater aquariums, a pH of less than 5.5 is very dangerous for all fish.

With values greater than 7.5, most aquatic plants experience slow or even zero growth.

Can be used both for freshwater and marine aquariums as well as in ornamental ponds.

  • AQUARIUM – In a freshwater aquarium it is recommended to carry out the test at least every 2 -3 months.

In the aquarium planted with fresh water or with particularly sensitive fish: every 2 weeks.

  • In marine aquariums every 7 days (and every 2 weeks nitrates).

  • POND – Koi require an environment with a pH that falls within the range of between 7.0 and 9.0.
The pH should not fall below 7.0, as it would become acid and harmful to koi.

What is pH

pH stands for hydrogen ion concentration and means “weight of hydrogen ions”.

If the water has a pH value of between 0 and 6.9 in the water it contains many acids and it is referred to as ACID water.

If instead the pH is between 7.1 and 14 the water contains more basic substances and the water is considered ALKALINE.

When the pH is exactly 7 the water is NEUTRAL.

The optimal pH value is:
- between 6.5 and 7.0 for FRESH water fish.
- between 8.2 and 8.4 for SALT water fish (in any case always > 8.0)
